Masarat Daud-Jamadar is from Rajasthan but lives in London, UK prior to which she lived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She is the 27-years-old Founder of the 8-Day Academy. She also holds responsibility of Amana Educational & Welfare Society which is based in Sikar, Rajasthan and works in the education sector there.
She is also the Curator of TEDxShekhavati which is the first TEDx event of Rajasthan and also the first rural TEDx event in India. The first conference was attended by more than 1,200 villagers who were inspired to be self-sufficient.
Masarat has extensive journalism experience in the UAE—both broadcast and print. She has been reporting and writing features for UAE newspapers and magazines since the age of 13. Between 2001 and 2003, she also authored a column on the education sector of UAE. Apart from holding editorial positions in international IT magazines and starting her own education publication, she also produced and occasionally co-presented the show ‘Nightline Dubai’ on Dubai’s talk radio: Dubai Eye FM. She was appointed to work in a government position in Dubai, which she quit to follow her heart and make a difference to rural communities.
During her frequent trips to India, she regularly meets thousands of young people, especially girls, to encourage them to have a vision with their education. One of the first university graduates in her small town of Fatehpur Shekhavati, her presence in the field has broken many stereotypes associated with a burqa-clad Muslim, Indian woman in leading social change.
